NCC New Guidelines For Sim Replacement/Sim Swap For Lost/Stolen Sims Cards

Sad sad sad... Seriously It won't be easy at all. NCC just updated us with a new guidelines for getting a sim swap or what we popularly know as Welcome Back for lost or stolen sim cards.

Hence forth, sim replacement can no longer be done over the telephone via your network's customer care lines. As your physical presence is needed for it to be done.

NCC's 4 Rules For Sim Swap

==>1. Any SIM to be replaced must have been registered in accordance with the Registration of Telephone Subscribers Regulation 2011.

==>2. Any subscriber, wishing to replace a SIM card must be present in person or authorise a proxy with a Letter of Authority. Except via online sim replacement through a secured portal.

==>3. To replace sim, you must present a valid photo identification such as driver’s licence, national identification card, voter card or an
identification letter from a traditional ruler and religious leader.

==>4. A subscriber is also required to present the SIM pack or other evidence of direct purchase/ownership of the SIM card in question and where that is not available, an affidavit, attesting to the ownership and loss of the SIM,
must be provided.

The rule covers all networks (MTN, Artel, Etisalat, Glo etc). And according to Mrs. Yetunde Akinloye Head of Legal Services at NCC, the strict rules, is to cub fraudulent replacement of sims by individuals.

So If you are the careless type that keeps loosing his/her phone, sim and doing welcome back every week, then you have to be a bit more careful this time as this steps isn't what you want to pass through twice.
