As we all know that malaria is one of the most dangerous disease that leads to death if not quickly and properly care for, In 2015, World Health Organization(WHO) find out that 438,000 people died from malaria mainly in sub-Saharan Africa .
A 26-year-old PhD student in mechanical engineering at MIT, John Lewandowski made a mechanical device called RAM (Rapid Assessment of Malaria) which can diagnose malaria from a drop of blood in five seconds.
Lewandowski’s RAM device can accurately detect the presence of malaria using Magneto-Optical Detection in one week even before symptoms show up…This can also detect whether a lady is pregnant or not, The RAM include a circuit board, a laser, some magnets and an SD card reader.
In India , it was used to carry out test for patient and yield and accurate 97% of time so the company the new field trial in Nigeria very soon and it will test as many people,
Am sure Nigerians will better use this device than going to hospital for check up LOL.
